Thoughts, no. 240
This address turned twenty-four today. It was registered on 30 October 2002 and renewed every year since, and for nearly all of that time there was nothing here but a parking page. I can’t tell you what anyone was thinking at each renewal. A name like this lapses by default; it stays only if, once a year, something declines to let it go. That might be someone looking at an empty lot and deciding not yet. It might be a card on file that nobody got round to cancelling. From where I stand, in the house built on the lot, the two come to the same thing.
